The PC’s total market increased by about 6.9 percent in the fourth quarter of the previous year. It contributes to a 9.6 percent increase in sales of notebooks. Shipments of the premium notebook increased by 13.8 percent last year. The consumer segment has a growth of 2.6 percent on a year-on-year basis and 5.1 percent in the commercial segment. Last year, enterprise and government segment has increased by 10.6 percent on a year-on-year basis. HP has secured the first position in the PC market with a 30.1 percent stake. The government and enterprise segments for the company have increased by about 14.7 percent and 14.3 percent respectively. However, its sales have been reduced by about 7.5 percent from the consumer segment. China’s Lenovo has a second rank with a stake of about 17.2 percent. The consumer and commercial segments for the company have increased by seven percent and 7.4 percent respectively. Apart from this, sales have also increased to the enterprise segment.
The market ranks third with 16.1 percent stake in this market. Acer has finished fourth with a stake of 15.1 percent. Acer has recorded the highest growth among the top five companies of this market. The company has got the advantage of giving discounts and increasing sales through e-commerce. The sales in the consumer segment of Acer have increased by 48.4 percent on a year-on-year basis. Asus is ranked fifth with a share of about seven percent in this market. Last year, this company has gained 18.4 percent growth in the commercial segment on a year-by-year basis.
